Strengths
When I'm writing in my free time, I'm usually writing a short story, usually involving cliches and high school romances. I've had some of my friends read what I've written, and they all enjoyed them. I definitely think that these stories are where my writing is the strongest. My preferred genre in literature is Young Adult fiction, so I've read a lot of cliche's and also a lot of different aspects of the genre that give me ideas for stories of my own. I am also very good at writing articles about other people. I enjoy reporting on things that interest me, or writing about my brother, Jason. I think that doing research and interviewing people is a lot of fun, and I hope to make a career out of it.
Weaknesses
My biggest weakness in English is writing essays that I cannot either address the audience, or address myself in. This is difficult because I really enjoy writing when I can add a plot and characters and also develop characters as the story goes on. I feel like things like persuasive essays and book reports or lab reports are really boring and don't allow the writer to really write the way they are most comfortable with writing. I doubt that I'll enjoy writing them in the future, but I want to get better at writing them.
Most Improved
I have improved a lot in writing poems. It's mostly because my vocabulary and sentence flow has improved drastically since middle school. Poems, in my opinion, don't need as much detail and effort as stories do. You can just say what you want in as little words as you want. My favorite poems to write are poems that describe angst or anger.
Goals For Next Year
My goals for next year would be to improve in all aspects of writing. I would like to write longer stories, and I would also like to write essays at a higher level. There are more classes like creative writing that I would like to take so that I can find better ways to create plots and maybe create less cliche and more complex plot lines and characters.
